James Startt is an American photographer based in Paris, specialising in bicycle racing and culture. A veteran of 35 Tours de France, Startt has twice won the World Sports Photography Awards.
Throughout his long career, he has collaborated with many of the world’s best publications including Bicycling Magazine, Peloton Magazine and Rouleur Magazine, has worked with teams like AG2R and Total Energies, as well as industry leaders like Specialized, Trek, Assos and Skoda. And along the way he has produced a singular body of work that effortlessly seams together his passion for racing, reportage, portraits and landscape.
In addition, he has produced several books and exhibits around the sport of cycling, as well as street photography, including Tour de France/Tour de Force (Chronicle Books), one of the first histories of the Tour de France in English, and Uniforme(s) (Les éditions du Seuil), dealing with fashion and conformity.
